Ocean showcase

The oceans are a gigantic habitat - but not all of us have them on our doorstep. The "Ocean Showcase" brings the sea into the heart of the city, even far from the coasts. Video projections transform empty shop windows into aquariums, and every day short films and documentaries shed light on the exploration and use of the oceans and the diversity of the underwater world.

The videos will be shown in the pedestrian zones and shopping streets of five German cities in 2017. With a supporting program of scientific lectures and film evenings, passers-by can immerse themselves even deeper in the world of the oceans. After around four weeks, the project will then move on to the next city.

The "Ocean Showcase" is a project for the Science Year 2016*17 - Seas and Oceans. It is organized by the Science Communication Department at the Institute for Technology Futures (ITZ) of the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT) and funded by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research.
